Welcome to "chewing the cud" I have been encouraged (some might say demanded) by many who know me to start a blog - and even the beginnings of a book - on all things that make life delicious.

So here it is: a space brimming with homely recipes, reviews and a few tales of my passions, wellness, wine, food, travel and the great outdoors. Welcome to my world!

This blog is a bit of a mixed bag, just like life itself.

You'll find scrumptious recipes and drinks, generously seasoned with stories about my journey though parenting, navigating life's twists and turns, and rediscovering the world beyond being a mum. Throw in a pinch of tea shop reviews and rambling adventures and you've got yourself a feast of content.

So, armed with my muddy boots, trusty notebook, camera and my wonderful husband or sometimes fruits of my lion (who's usually wondering why I've dragged them up another hill), I'm tracking my way around the country and beyond. I'm on a mission to find the best places to eat, drink, laugh and be merry - and of course to share it all with you.

From the sweetest bakes to the smoothest whiskeys, I'm here to give you a taste of my experiences and recipes. I hope they bring a smile to your face, a chuckle to your day, or even a tear or two (because what is life without a good cry every now and then?). And if you can recreate some of these sweet bites to share with your loved ones, even better!

With over 20 years as a baker under my belt (and more cake that I'd care to admit under my waist line), I've indulged in my fair share of sugary delights. I've paired these with endless pots of tea (Yorkshire tea being the best - naturally), and thanks to being married to a master chef, I've sampled from of the most exquisite dishes and washed them down with the odd bottle (or two) of wine.

But life is not all sugar and spice, as any baker - or parent - will tell you. It's a mix of flavours, with the occasional burnt crust or unexpected rise (or collapse). So, alongside my love of food, I'm stirring in a few more ingredients: The great outdoors, travel, health, nutrition, wellbeing, and a deep rooted passion for safeguarding and helping others live a happier life.

After years of navigating the ups and downs of life - from parenting and career changes to embracing the empty nest - I'm now embarking on a new adventure. We're packing up and moving north to the breath taking country of North Yorkshire, where rolling hills, quaint villages, and endless tea shops are just waiting to be explored. It's a bit like starting a new chapter, filled with the promise of fresh beginnings and plenty of scones.

This blog is my way of sharing a holistic approach to life - finding balance between the joys of a good bake and the need to stretch my legs (and imagination). Its about living positively, embracing change, and creating a life that nourishes the body, mind and soul.

So, here it is to new beginnings, rediscovering life after kids, and savouring every moment, one bite and one step at a time. I hope you'll join me on this journey, and if you find something useful, inspiring or just down right funny, take it with you. And if something doesn't quite resonate, leave it behind.

Pour yourself a cup of tea (or a glass of wine - no judgement here), pull up a chair, and enjoy the ride. Cheers to life's little ups and downs, and to finding joy in every bite and every adventure.

But please know this blog contains my views, opinions and information for you to read and take on board or not. I am not branded and take no commission on promoting foods, equipment, companies, or books etc. I do so of my own will.

Much love always
