I wear many hats, safeguarding expert, hospitality advocate, cake designer, trainer, writer, and mum. Life has taken me on a winding path through kitchens, classrooms, and crisis teams, and now, I bring it all together here.

Tea, Cake & Muddy Boots is where I share my experiences, reflections, and passions—from Yorkshire tea shops to the serious conversations we need to have about well-being and safeguarding.

From Kitchens to Safeguarding & Beyond

 

I first fell in love with hospitality working front-of-house, captivated by the energy, creativity, and camaraderie. That love grew into a deep respect for the industry—its people, its pressures, and its challenges. Alongside that, I built a career in safeguarding, spending over 20 years working with vulnerable individuals, training professionals, and teaching on complex topics like domestic abuse, sexual violence, harassment, and workplace well-being.

 

I’ve seen the incredible resilience of people in hospitality, but I’ve also seen the struggles—mental health battles, toxic workplaces, and the unspoken burdens many carry.

 

That’s why I now dedicate my time to training, speaking, and advocating for safer, healthier environments—whether that’s in kitchens, boardrooms, or community spaces.

  • Inspire growth & reflection—from navigating motherhood to reclaiming my own identity, I share my journey to encourage others to embrace change, seek balance, and find their own path.

  • Everything I do— whether training police officers, speaking at industry events, crafting bespoke cakes, or writing about wellness—is rooted in this mission. I want people to feel supported, safe, and seen.

With a career spanning safeguarding, training, hospitality, and education, I’ve developed a unique skill set that blends expertise with lived experience. My work is rooted in supporting people, creating safer environments, and empowering others through knowledge.

  • Master’s in Higher Education & Training – Specialising in learning design, teaching methodologies, and professional development.

  • Fellowship in Higher Education – Recognised for my contributions to teaching and training at a professional level.

  • BSc Hons in Nutrition – A deep understanding of food science, health, and well-being, particularly within hospitality.

  • Personal trainer -  Level 4 qualified personal fitness trainer, specialising in weight loss, body conditioning.

  • Work place first aid trainer - Level 4 Supporting the work place to be a safer environment for all. 

  • Work place dyslexia and neurodiversity assessor - Level 4 Making the work place a more inclusive and supporting environment.

  • Royal Humane Society Awardee – Recognised for my commitment to protecting life and supporting those in crisis.
